At Opie Acres the work is on going 365 days a year. We have from 75-200 animals in care at all time. The work is physical and dirty, at times, but it is very rewarding. Volunteers are required a minimum of 4 hours per week to stay current in specific care duties. As a volunteer you will learn species specific diets, cage care, infant care, elderly care and basic first aid. As you learn, you can expand your duties and possibly qualify as an advanced team member, caring for our more unusual and difficult patients and resident. You could join our medical Team and learn how to give life saving care, special feeding, and care taking duties, medicine administration, and wound care. We work outdoors and indoors, which requires us to be outside in inclement weather. If you are unable to perform the more physical task, we have plenty of duties in our food processing and preparation, and also in our infant care. Please consider joining us so that we can continue our care for these forgotten animals.
