Description

The Lighthouse is a peer support program is a program designed to provide opportunities for adults with mental illness to develop social skills in a community setting.  Lighthouse members receive support from staff and each other which provides an effective environment for their personal development.

Volunteers must be able to commit to at least 3 hours a week for a minimum of 3 months.  The Lighthouse is open Monday - Thursday and on Saturdays.

Volunteers may do the following:

  • Greet members when they arrive
  • Help staff ensure members are signing in/out of the membership log at arrival/departure
  • Assist staff in conducting education, support and other structured activities
  • Assist staff with members as they choose chores and activities for the day
  • Help staff facilitate meal times
  • Prepare party food and activities as needed
  • Promote a positive work environment by modeling appropriate social behavior
