Saturday Night Dock Assistant
Reports To: The dock supervisor
Job Overview: The Saturday Night Dock Assistant helps to clear the dock by bringing donations into the warehouse. The process will include bagging loose clothing, sorting items into bins, and then rolling full bins inside. Also, help to bring furniture into the warehouse. The position helps ensure that items are safe from the weather, and not stolen, plus it helps dock staff stay caught up. The sale of these items is how the Samaritan Center funds itself, which makes it possible to provide emergency assistance to the people in the community.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- The dock attendant will check in with the supervisor, and sign in upon arrival, and out upon departure.
- Attendants will clear the dock of all donations.
- Bag loose clothing and place the filled bags into the rolling bins.
- Carry the furniture into the warehouse.
- Place smaller donations into the rolling bins and trash into the trash bin.
- Bring filled rolling bins into the warehouse.
- Empty trash bin as needed.
Qualifications:
- The dock attendant hours are flexible. It starts after sundown and requires at least one hour of volunteering.
- Scheduling is recommended.
- The dock is behind Elder’s Ace Hardware and parking is available there (6017 Ooltewah-Georgetown Rd).
- This position requires the ability to stand, lift (only what is comfortable), bend, pull, and push, and is not in an air-conditioned/heated environment.
