Description

Chatter Camp is a one-week adventure that teaches kids (ages 5-16) how to use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices to chat, play, and connect.

This year's theme is Junior Chef AACademy, so get ready to chop, bake, and mix up some fun while our campers discover new ways to communicate!

Chatter Camp will run from June 1st - 5th: 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join the adventure! Volunteers will lead activities, engage in play, and support campers in using their AAC devices throughout the day. Each day includes a variety of fun experiences such as art, cooking, literacy activities, outdoor time, and special surprise guests.

The ultimate goal of Chatter Camp is to create a safe, supportive space where campers can build and practice social skills. Volunteers should be able to balance high energy and fun with patience, understanding, and kindness.

Volunteers should bring a basic understanding of, and genuine empathy for, working with children and teens with disabilities. While prior experience is preferred, it is not required.

If you are interested in volunteering, please visit Volunteer - Signal Centers to submit a volunteer application. Please indicate within your application that you are applying to assist at Chatter Camp; there will be a short onboarding and training process to follow.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Victoria_Gravina@signalcenters.org.

Thank you so much!
