Looking for a hands-on way to celebrate International Women’s Day and get plugged into trail stewardship? Join SORBA Chattanooga for a Women’s+ Trail Work Party at the brand-new Godsey Ridge Trail—before it opens to the public.
This event is a welcoming, supportive trail work day created specifically for women to learn about trail building and maintenance in a space that centers collaboration, curiosity, and confidence. No experience required—just a willingness to get a little dirty and learn something new.
Godsey Ridge is a new trail system being professionally built by Ptarmagin Trails through a state grant awarded to the City of Red Bank, and volunteers play an important role in helping bring it across the finish line. This is a unique opportunity to work on a trail before it officially opens and to learn directly about sustainable trail design and maintenance.
This event welcomes and respects all women. This includes trans women and those who are nonbinary, gender non-conforming, or otherwise identify as women in ways that are meaningful to them.
What to expect:
No prior trail work experience needed
Tools, instruction, and guidance provided by SORBA Chattanooga
A collaborative, community-focused vibe
A chance to make a lasting impact on a new local trail
Pre and post work fuel and fellowship
What to bring:
Water and snacks
Sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots
Work gloves (we’ll have extras if you need them)
Weather-appropriate clothing you don’t mind getting dirty
Trail work has historically been male-dominated—this day is about creating space, sharing knowledge, and empowering more women to be part of building and stewarding the trails we love.
Come solo or bring a friend. Learn something new. Move some dirt. Celebrate International Women’s Day by making a tangible difference on the trail.
