Join the Assistive Technology team at Signal Centers, where we use innovation and advocacy to empower individuals of all ages through customized technology solutions. About the Role: This internship is an excellent opportunity for social work students to gain hands-on experience in disability services, client advocacy, and resource coordination, all while learning about the exciting and evolving field of assistive technology (AT). Interns will participate in a variety of direct and indirect service activities and collaborate with a dynamic, interdisciplinary team to support individuals seeking greater accessibility and independence.
Responsibilities: Conduct intake assessments to identify assistive technology needs Meet one-on-one with clients and facilitate follow-up case management.
Assist in coordinating and facilitating peer-led support groups and small group sessions Provide education and advocacy to clients, caregivers, and community partners.
Create and maintain a community resource book to support client referrals.
Research and evaluate emerging assistive technologies and their applications.
Help coordinate training sessions, workshops, and outreach events.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with organizational and legal standards.
Requirements: BSW or MSW student (Fall 2025–Spring 2026 placement) Interest in accessibility, disability advocacy, and technology-based support. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfort working with diverse populations. Ability to work independently and in a collaborative, team-based setting. Basic research skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office. No prior experience required, just a willingness to learn. Relevant experience is appreciated but not necessary.
