Chatter Camp is a unique summer program designed for children and teens who are nonverbal or partially verbal and use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices. The week is filled with hands-on activities supporting the frequent and effective use of each camper’s communication technology. Campers build confidence, make friends, and grow in their communication skills through play, art, music, and movement. We’re looking for volunteers who:
✔️ Enjoy working with children of all abilities
✔️ Have a passion for helping kids express themselves in creative ways
✔️ Are interested or have background experience in social work, psychology, speech-language therapy, special education, or related areas, though this is not required.
✔️ Are patient, enthusiastic, and ready to support campers; however, they communicate
No previous experience is necessary. All volunteers will complete a short interview to help us make sure it’s the right fit for you and the campers. Join us for a week of connection, creativity, and communication — and help every child’s voice be heard.
