Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise

Who We Are

Mission: To create economically diverse neighborhoods filled with financially empowered citizens and housing for all.

Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise was founded in 1986 as a nonprofit to help families navigate the homebuying process and become successful, lifelong homeowners. For over 30 years, we’ve used our ingenuity and innovative spirit to help over 13,000 clients, including families, individuals and small businesses, to secure loans, purchase homes and keep the homes they love. Additionally, through our revitalization and development work, we’ve been able to provide over 5,000 stable homes in diverse, urban neighborhoods with potential to thrive.

What We Do

CNE empowers communities through initiatives that promote homeownership, financial well-being, neighborhood connections, and housing stability.

  • Promoting and Preserving Homeownership: CNE helps individuals and families achieve and maintain homeownership through education, counseling, down payment assistance, and home improvement loans. Programs also include free foreclosure prevention counseling and grants to improve home efficiency.
  • Promoting Financial Well-being: CNE supports financial literacy with free education through the Money School Program and offers alternatives to payday lending with its Small Dollar Loan program.
  • Connecting Neighborhoods: CNE fosters trust and leadership among residents by encouraging involvement in affordable housing and neighborhood development.
  • Real Estate Development: CNE invests in mixed-income communities by developing single-family homes, multi-unit residences, and apartment buildings. The goal is to create 450 new housing units in five years, with 20% designated as income-restricted.
  • Asset and Portfolio Management: Through lending, CNE strengthens Chattanooga’s neighborhoods, investing in housing and stability for the community.
