Chattanooga Symphony & Opera

Who We Are

Mission: To inspire, engage, and enrich the greater Chattanooga community through music and music education.

Formed in 1985 from the merger of the Chattanooga Symphony and the Chattanooga Opera, the organization offers a wide variety of musical performances ranging from classical symphonies to contemporary works, often featuring renowned guest artists. It is one of the few organizations in the United States that combines both symphony and opera under one entity. The CSO is also committed to community engagement and music education through programs like the Chattanooga Youth Symphony.

What We Do

As the nation’s first combined professional symphony and opera company, CSO performs a wide variety of classical, romantic, and contemporary works. They have a robust season running from September through May, with performances at renowned venues and collaborations with over 200 community partners, including schools, hospitals, and local organizations. The CSO also runs youth programs to nurture future musicians.
