Boy Scouts of America, Cherokee Area Council

Mission: To provide an educational program for young people to build character, develop personal fitness, and train in leadership and citizenship responsibilities.
The Cherokee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America serves Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. The council, headquartered in Chattanooga, TN, operates several programs including traditional Scouting activities, summer camps, and service projects. It has been active since 1910 and has played a significant role in the local community through civic service initiatives such as assisting with Red Cross, forest fire prevention, and Memorial Day events at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The Cherokee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America focuses on providing fun, educational outdoor programs for youth across 11 counties. Its goal is to get children involved in Scouting and to keep them engaged by offering vibrant, accessible programs that promote values such as community service, environmental stewardship, and leadership. The council strives to engage more families, act as a community champion for values, and foster a culture of understanding and continual improvement. Programs include activities like litter cleanups, camping, and earning environmental and citizenship-related awards.
