Art To Empower

Art To Empower, formerly known as Move N Groove Kidz Garvey Program, has been dedicated to empowering individuals and communities through the arts since 2019. Our mission is to provide high-quality enrichment programs that offer access to movement and music arts because all people—young and old—deserve expansive opportunities, unhindered by socioeconomic barriers or systemic limitations. Our vision is to build a vibrant local community of empowered, lifelong learners inspired by the arts. By meeting learners where they are, we aim to expand arts-based activities that reach and connect a global community.

We accomplish our mission and vision through two flagship programs: Move N Groove Kidz brings weekly dance-based movement and music classes to seven local preschools. These programs are fully funded through the investment of preschool owners, grants, and donors, so families never have to pay out of pocket. Classes focus on joy in movement, creativity, and early childhood development. Capoeira Chattanooga provides capoeira classes and cultural workshops at youth-centered organizations such as Reach One Teach One, Chambliss Center for Children and more. We also host free public events, including community rodas, to introduce more people to this Afro-Brazilian art form and foster cross-cultural connection through movement and music. Through these programs, we create joyful, inclusive spaces that empower learners of all ages to explore the arts, build confidence, and strengthen community bonds.
