Who We Are
Mission: To help older adults and people with disabilities live with dignity and choices in their homes and communities.
At the Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability, we are dedicated to serving a diverse and vibrant community across ten counties: Bledsoe, Bradley, Grundy, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Polk, Rhea, and Sequatchie. Our commitment is to individuals who are aging or living with disabilities in these regions, ensuring they have access to the highest quality of life possible.
The goal of SETAAAD is to advocate for and to strive to achieve a system of services that allows older persons and persons with disabilities the opportunity for an independent and productive lifespan. This is accomplished through three primary areas of emphasis: Advocacy, Service, and Planning.
What We Do
You Have the Power to Make Change Happen!
Make a difference in just a few hours at the Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability (SETAAAD).
Volunteer to support older adults and adults with disabilities with flexible and rewarding opportunities:
Home Delivered Meals Services, (Meals on Wheels) provide more than just a meal— it is a vital lifeline! Volunteers deliver hot meals to seniors, helping them stay nourished, connected, and supported at home. Individuals, groups, and organizations are welcome to volunteer.
MyRide TN Southeast, help older adults stay independent by providing volunteer-assisted transportation to essential appointments in Bradley and Hamilton Counties. Assist with trips to the grocery store, pharmacy, bank, and doctor’s visits. Make a difference—one ride at a time!
Long Term Care Ombudsman Program provides opportunities to become a Volunteer Ombudsman Representative (VOR) and serve as an advocate for residents in long-term care facilities by visiting with residents, protecting residents’ rights, and helping resolve complaints related to care, dignity, and quality of life.
Public Guardianship Program, volunteers play a vital role in supporting the Public Guardianship program. As a Friendly Visitor, volunteers provide companionship, social engagement, and regular visits to public guardian clients, helping reduce isolation and promote overall well-being. Volunteers can also assist with program support to help the guardianship program run smoothly.
Senior Center Support, help make the senior center a welcoming, engaging place! Volunteers assist with daily programs, support staff, and connect with older adults to promote social interaction and well-being. Have a special talent? Share it! Opportunities are available to teach music, singing, crafts, dance, art, or exercise. Lead with purpose by providing educational and engaging activities that promote healthy living and community connection.
These programs rely on volunteers to provide vital services that enhance the quality of life for adults 60 and older and adults with disabilities, helping them stay engaged, independent, and connected in our communities.
