Description

Each year, McKamey Animal Center hosts our largest, most regal fundraiser- the MAC Gala! This year, we have a goal of bringing in over $250,000 in just one evening, and every penny goes directly to helping vulnerable animals. We were even a finalist for 2023 Best of the Best fundraiser! We want this year to blow last year's event out of the water, and we can't do it without you! Gala Volunteers are one of our most important keys to a successful event. This event is creative black tie, with the theme of "It's Electric!" Volunteers are allowed to dress up, get fancy, and be creative with their outfit!

We are looking for around 20 volunteers to fill the following positions:

  • Set-up Crew - This team meets the day before the event (April 4th) and day of the event (April 5th) to decorate the space and prepare it for the festivities. There are three shifts for this team: 4/4/24 9 am - 1 pm, 4/4/24 1 pm - 5 pm, and 4/5/24 10 am - 3 pm.
  • "Chance Drawing" Ticket Sellers - Volunteers in this position must be outgoing and unafraid to walk up to people and ask them to join the Chance Drawing (kind of like a raffle). Donated money will be processed in both cash and card via tablet, so the Volunteer must be tech savvy. This position is from 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm.
  • Event Security - Volunteers in this position are placed strategically around the venue to ensure everyone is partying safely. These volunteers may also be stationed outside our VIP areas to check wristbands for entry. This position has two shifts - 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm, and 8:15 pm - 11 pm
  • Bid Spotters - Looking for an excuse to be loud, boisterous, and find your spotlight? This position is perfect for you. Bid spotters drum up electric excitement during our live auction. They help our auctioneer spot bids during our live auction through pointing, shouting, singing, clapping, waving light wands, and you can bring your own signature flare to this position. The more energy you drive, the more money we raise for the animals! This position is from 7:45 - 8:15 pm.
  • Silent Auction Monitor - Sure, it's a silent auction, but that doesn't mean it's boring! Volunteers will be taking to attendees about the items in the silent auction and encouraging them to place bids and outbid others. We are looking for volunteers who are not afraid to solicit higher bids and persuade people bid. This position is from 5:30 - 8:30 pm.
  • Greeting and Seating - One of the easiest positions of the evening, Greeters/Seaters will welcome guests into the ballroom, thank them for attending, and help direct them to their table if needed. This position is from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.
  • Tear Down/Clean Up Crew - Just like the position is named, Volunteers on this team will help us take down our entire event and clean up the venue to make it look like the Gala never happened. This position is from 9 pm - 12 am.

Volunteers must be at least 18 at the time of the Gala, and we will have a mandatory pre-event orientation on Saturday, March 30th at McKamey Animal Center, Time TBA. If you are interested, please mark your interest here in iHelp and then email volunteermanager@mckameyanimalcenter.org with your top three position preferences. The Volunteer Manager will be in touch with you with more information. Thank you so much, we can not do it without you!
