Founded in 1953, Orange Grove Center serves adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Orange Grove provides support for 1,100 individuals in largely community-based programs as varied as academic prevocational training, job training, employment, residential, primary health care, intensive out patient services, dental care, and enrichment services.
Volunteers are needed to help clear an over grown pathway that connects two Orange Grove residential homes. Tasks will include trimming back and removing over grown branches, raking and bagging brush. Volunteers will help lift trash bags (1 -20 pounds) and place them into dumpsters located on site. Anyone with experience using a chainsaw will be helpful. Volunteers are asked to wear a long sleeve shirt, long pants and closed toed shoes. Volunteers should bring a pair of working gloves, a water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat. Tools will be provided. Lunch and water will be provided.
Parking is available at the Orange Grove Center Hixson Pike residential location (2015 Hixson Pike, Chattanooga, TN 37415). A Orange Grove representative will be on site to assist with parking, and guiding volunteers through the process of checking in and the project of clearing the pathway.
