The Chattanooga Zoo is seeking assistance cleaning a large behind-the-scenes area of our grounds. This will include yard work, lifting of objects up to 25lb., moving debris, and basic straightening.
- Closed toed shoes are required.
- Bring a reusable water bottle.
- We welcome the bringing of additional yard work equipment (shovels, rakes, hedge clippers, etc.).
- Must be 18 years or older.
DRESS
Close-toed shoes are required. Dress appropriately for a family friendly atmosphere (nothing depicting anything offensive or vulgar, if you wear shorts they will need to be of a reasonable length). Wear clothing that can get dirty and dress accordingly for the weather.
PARKING
Park in the parking lot in front of the Zoo. There is additional parking to the right of the Zoo as well.
WHERE
Chattanooga Zoo 301 N. Holtzclaw Ave. Chattanooga. When you arrive, let the ticket booth know you are here to volunteer, they will then radio me and I will come meet you at the front.
BREAKS
We have several public restrooms and water fountains available as needed. We ask that you please bring a reusable water bottle with you to stay hydrated. We do not give out disposable water bottles as conservation is a significant part of our mission.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
In the event of rain or inclement weather, we will not be able to continue with this project but hope you will consider coming to help at a different time.
VOLUNTEER HOURS
If you need volunteer hours for school/work/etc. please bring any documentation you may need filled out with you. I will be happy to fill out your hours.
NO SHOW
Please do not be a “no show”. While we understand that emergencies happen at the last minute, it is difficult for us to complete this project without the expected volunteers. If you will not be able to make it, you can email me at volunteer@chattzoo.org as soon as possible.
LIABILITY
Because of liability reasons, all participating volunteers will need to be 18 years or older. Please sign the attached waiver, without a waiver you will not be able to volunteer.
