Gratefull is a free, city-wide Thanksgiving potluck that takes place at one long table in the middle of MLK Boulevard. The event, formerly known as One Table, was started by Causeway in 2014 because we believe that in order to build a city that is an honest reflection of its residents, everyone should be invited to the table. Gratefull is now an annual event in Chattanooga and has been replicated in six cities across the southeast.
Greeter & Sign-Ins volunteers will welcome guests as they arrive at the event. Greeters should have a smartphone they are comfortable using to help with sign-ups. Guests will be able to scan a QR code to access a short online form where they can enter their contact information. Paper copies will also be available on clipboards for those without smartphones, and volunteers will neatly write in the information to ensure legibility.
Volunteers will also prepare name tags by handwriting guests’ first names and encouraging them to connect with others who have the same color name tag. Four volunteers will be stationed at the entrance at a time, and shifts will rotate halfway through so everyone has the chance to enjoy a meal and a seat at the table.
Parking: There is no on-site parking available for volunteers at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center. Parking information will be provided in our e-mail reminders to volunteers.
