Who We Are
Mission: To provide paid and volunteer labor, equipment, supplies and vehicles to design and construct the Cumberland Trail under the auspices of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.
The Cumberland Trails Conference (CTC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development and maintenance of the Cumberland Trail, a long-distance hiking trail running through the Tennessee Cumberland Plateau. The organization serves as an advocate for the Cumberland Trail State Scenic Park (CTSSP) as a scenic foot trail, and to conserve natural resources and promote rational development within the counties surrounding it so as to preserve the natural beauty and intrinsic value for posterity.
What We Do
The CTC engages in various activities, including:
- Trail Construction & Maintenance: Volunteers and staff build new sections of the trail and maintain existing ones, ensuring they are accessible and safe for hikers.
- Conservation Efforts: The conference works to preserve the natural ecosystems along the trail, such as through land acquisition and sustainable trail practices.
- Education & Recreation: The CTC promotes outdoor education, responsible recreation, and community engagement through events, hikes, and volunteer opportunities.
