McMinn County Historical Society & Archives
Mission: To preserve the history of Tennessee, and particularly of McMinn County.
McMinn County Historical Society and Archives is a 501c3 historical organization dedicated to the preservation of McMinn County Archives and History for future generations.
In January 2022, the McMinn County Historical Society and Archives moved to a new building where it currently stands: 107 W. College Street in Athens. With more space, equipment, faster internet speeds, high resolution digitization projects, updates to the archives, and a host of awesome volunteers, the MCHSA is looking forward to a brighter future.
The archives are open 10 am – 2 pm on weekdays. The Society meets on the first Sunday of each month at 2:00 pm October through May in the Blue Room of the courthouse. Up-to-date meeting announcements and other events will be posted on our Facebook page.
