Who We Are

Mission: To champion healthy communities through compassionate and responsive delivery of education, health, social, and advocacy related services.

Cempa Community Care, formerly Chattanooga CARES, was organized in 1986 by citizens who wanted to support and advocate for the residents of the local area who were impacted by HIV and, at that time, often battling AIDS. In 1988, Cempa Community Care received 501(c)3 non-profit status and continued to focus on social service advocacy, care, and assistance for those impacted by HIV. Cempa now offers treatment, prevention, and support services to those impacted with health disparities with a focus in primary and infectious disease care.

What We Do

Chattanooga CARES is dedicated to helping those affected by HIV, Hepatitis C, and STIs live the fullest lives possible.

Chattanooga CARES’s Community Outreach & Education Department works with many regional agencies to provide testing, education and information to break down social stigmas, and to help prevent the spread of HIV in 23 counties in Southeast Tennessee.

Chattanooga Primary CARE Center offers a full range of services for individuals living with HIV. These services include: primary and infectious disease care, nutritional counseling, mental health counseling, laboratory services, and health maintenance for preventative care.

The goal of Client Services is to coordinate a comprehensive continuum of care that encompasses social support necessary to assist clients in obtaining an optimum of care. This can be done by providing, coordinating, and assuring social support necessary to assist clients in maintaining their prospective health, safety, and well-being.
