Who We Are
Mission: To foster curiosity, creativity and deep understanding through engaging exploration, authentic problem-based learning and collaborative partnerships with museums, families and the community.
Normal Park Museum Magnet School in Chattanooga, TN, is an innovative educational institution that integrates museum-based learning with traditional academic instruction. Located near the Hunter Museum of American Art, the school takes a unique approach to education by incorporating real-world, hands-on experiences. This connection with the museum allows students to engage deeply with topics through “learning expeditions” that blend classroom lessons with exhibits, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
What We Do
The school focuses on inquiry-based learning, with an emphasis on social studies, science, and art. Students are encouraged to explore big ideas through projects and problem-solving activities, often in partnership with the museum’s exhibits and resources. This interdisciplinary approach is designed to help students build not just academic knowledge, but also life skills like communication, responsibility, and teamwork.
Normal Park serves a diverse student body and is committed to providing an inclusive environment that meets the needs of all learners. The school’s mission reflects a commitment to both high academic standards and personal development, ensuring students are well-prepared for future success.
