Volunteer: Laurel Dace Day VolunteerOn May 16, 2026 in Spring City, TN, the Aquarium and its partners will host the Second Annual Laurel Dace Day with a 5k, 10k, Half Mile Fun Run and celebration to support the critically endangered Laurel Dace. Laurel Dace Day wouldn’t be possible without the generous help from our community members as volunteers. We’ll need help with setting up the races, passing out snacks and water, guiding vendors to booth locations, and more. We have a variety of opportunities and time slots available if you or someone you know is interested in volunteering at Laurel Dace Day! We appreciate any support. Volunteer: Guest AmbassadorThe most memorable part of a guest’s experience is often the interactions they have along the way. Guest Ambassadors play an extremely important role in creating a warm, welcoming, and informative experience for every visitor. Guest Ambassadors provide directions, answer general questions, and assist guests in navigating the Aquarium to ensure a smooth and enjoyable visit. Volunteers in this role may also have the opportunity to occasionally serve as a mascot in one of our nine mascot costumes, bringing added fun and excitement to guest interactions. More complex inquiries will be referred to the Visitor Services or Education Mentors teams. Education Volunteers are stationed throughout the galleries to interpret exhibits, animals, and plants by offering educational information to visitors through interpretation and storytelling. Being an Education Volunteer is a combination of correct educational information, using appropriate guest interaction techniques, and good customer service. Please note that Education Volunteers do not work directly with animals.
