Volunteer: Day of Caring 2025 - AIM Center - Landscaping/Beautification

Join the AIM Center for the 2025 Day of Caring! Get your hands dirty and help us beautify our grounds with some basic landscaping upkeep. Activities will include weeding, mulching, and trimming of shrubs and low hanging branches. Please wear closed toe shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather. We recommend bringing a water bottle, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc. Snacks and water will be provided.

A background check is required. A confidentiality agreement must be signed upon arrival or prior to your arrival.

Join SORBA Chattanooga and Booker T. Washington State Park for the United Way’s Day of Caring as we team up to protect and preserve one of Chattanooga’s beloved trail systems!

We’ll be working together to remove invasive plant species from the park’s Nature Trail, helping to maintain the health of the native ecosystem and ensure the trail remains beautiful and accessible for hikers, bikers, and nature lovers.

No prior experience is necessary!
All tools will be provided on-site, along with instruction and guidance from experienced trail stewards.

What to Bring & Wear:

Work gloves (we'll have extras if you don't have any) Reusable water bottle & snacks Closed-toe shoes (required) Long pants and sleeves recommended for protection from brush and bugs

Rivermont Elementary's vision is to create an inclusive, positive and engaging community that supports diversity, growth and independence by motivating students and staff to purposefully explore academic and social passions in a safe environment in which all are valued and respected.

The school is hoping to find some handy volunteers that can build wooden benches and a covered area for their school garden. Volunteers will need to have building experience to complete this project. Volunteers should bring their own tools for building wooden benches. 

In addition to tools, volunteers should bring sunscreen, water bottles (ice and refillable water available), gloves.

Needed materials for project: additional wood, nails/screws

This is our annual cleaning day, and we have both indoor and outdoor work opportunities available. Below, you will find a list of tasks for the day. If you're interested, we would love for you to join us to support the CAC and learn more about our work!

Outside: Clean Flowerbeds, Lay Pavers, Mulch, Clean Up Outdoor Space / Pick Up Trash

Indoor: Playroom Deep Clean, Remove Scuffs From Walls, Spot Clean Carpet,

Teen Room: Deep Clean Remove scuffs from walls Spot Clean Carpet Lobby/

Dens: Deep Clean Move out the couch, vacuum, and wipe down each section. Remove scuffs from walls Spot Clean

Carpet Hallway: Deep Clean, Remove scuffs from walls, Spot Clean Carpet

Conference Room: Deep Clean Remove scuffs from walls, Spot clean the carpet.

Pepsi: Clean Out Old Pepsi. Make Snack Bags if Possible.

Volunteers should wear clothes they feel comfortable in while working inside and outside. Examples: Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, closed-toe shoes, pants, etc. Materials provided for this project are mulch, shrubs, and water. Please bring gardening tools if you have them -  gloves, a pressure washer, a hedge trimmer, and/or loppers/pruners. Our clients deserve a beautiful and welcoming space to tell their stories.

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience nature, regardless of where they live or their economic status. We believe that when the benefits of the outdoors are accessible to everyone, Chattanooga becomes stronger and more connected. We believe that young people deserve opportunities to learn in and appreciate the outdoors, so they become lifelong champions for the natural world.

Volunteers need to bring a reusable water bottle, bug spray, and sunscreen. If you have a pair of gloves, please bring them as well.
