Volunteer: Adapt-A-Toy Mondays- Assistive Technology Services
Looking for a meaningful and hands-on volunteer opportunity this fall? Join us for Adapt-A-Toy Mondays at Signal Centers and help create accessible play experiences for children with disabilities. Each Monday, we invite small groups to volunteer in our Assistive Technology program by adapting battery-operated toys to make them usable for children with limited mobility or motor skills. This is a powerful way to promote inclusion while engaging in a fun, team-building activity. No technical background required, we’ll guide you through the entire process. This opportunity is especially great for corporate volunteer groups looking to give back in a direct, impactful way. Important Note: Participants will bring a toy with them to adapt during the session. Upon signing up, your group will receive simple guidelines on what types of toys are best to bring (affordable, easy-to-modify, and suitable for switch adaptation). Why It Matters: Adapted toys can be quite expensive and are often out of reach for many families. Your group’s time and care help make accessible play possible for children with disabilities, at no cost to them. What to Expect: Brief training and orientation from our Assistive Technology staff, and an overview of disability inclusion and accessible design with a collaborative and rewarding team experience. Agency: Signal Centers, Inc.
