Volunteers and fosters are an integral part of Humane Educational Society's family. Volunteers and fosters help make our program successful.  Their work directly contributes to our high save rate, and they are the lifeline of our team. Simply, if we didn’t have such an amazing group of kind and caring ‘friends of shelter pets’ to dedicate their time and energy, we wouldn’t exist. On behalf of all our staff and shelter critters, thank you for your unconditional love and support!  At Humane Educational Society, there is a wide variety of volunteer opportunity for people who care about supporting homeless and adoptable pets in our community. We would love to grow our volunteer team!   Get creative and help make the store beautiful!  You'll be stocking shelves and hanging clothes, but also changing displays to make things look new and fresh! Be the first to see what awesome things come through the door by sorting donations Assist customers on the sales floor. General cleaning to keep things looking tidy Receive donations in our staging area Deliver donated items from the shelter to the store We are looking for the right people to help with Facebook, Poshmark, and cashiering. Foster care saves hundreds of animal each year at HES.
Open your home and heart to a foster pet and give one of our most vulnerable animals a second chance. Animals in our foster program range from only a few days old to some of our most senior pets. Typically, animals that need a foster the most are abandoned litters of puppies and kittens, shy adult cats, animals recovering from medical procedures and pets who have been abused or neglected and need help coming out of their shells.  We provide: All necessary veterinary care for animals in our foster program, including medications, vaccinations and medical care Plenty of support from staff and volunteers Supplies that are necessary based on the animal's condition You provide: Your time and space in your home Lots of love

Foster parents must be available to pick up and drop off the pet at HES as needed and bring animals back for placement in a forever home when the time is right.
