Volunteers @ Work

Corporate and business communities represent one of the most powerful forces for change in our nation. When they invest their expertise and financial resources, corporations can strengthen communities and solve critical problems every day. The ongoing support from our corporate partners enables United Way of Greater Chattanooga’s Volunteer Center to bring the scale, momentum and impact needed to transform our community through volunteering and civic engagement.

The Volunteer Center works with organizations of all sizes to engage their employees in volunteer community service based upon their areas of focus, needs and goals. We are expert planners, managers and leaders of corporate volunteer projects that promote employee teamwork. We also provide sponsorship opportunities that put your organization’s identity, commitment and philanthropic focus in the spotlight.

Interested in Creating a Customized Project?

United Way's Volunteer Center can customize a service project tailored to your company's interests. Projects are designed so volunteers can see visible transformations from their efforts, engender a strong sense of teamwork, foster collaboration and achievement and acquire a better appreciation of the value of their service to the community.

How It Works…

With your partnership, The Volunteer Center will:

  • Develop a customized team-building service day that creates meaningful community change

  • Provide much-needed supplies and materials for community improvements at local schools, community centers, public parks and urban gardens, etc

  • Provide all necessary tools and equipment, as well as water and first aid for all volunteers

  • Scout and recommend viable project partner sites based on your volunteering interest

  • Provide trained volunteer leaders to work with and coordinate your group

  • Make recommendations for local transportation and food vendors, as requested

  • Publicize your project through the HandsOn website, newsletter and social media
